Retro Gaming simply puts me back into my childhood/youth. When I see the games and then the C64 sound, I always think of many nice and old stories from before. In today's world, the new games are all the more worth it for me. I compare a lot with before, even if it has already made it easier to create something through the PCs today. Just nice that so much new comes. Keep it up...

Retro Gaming is like being a child again today!

Retro gaming it's not just childhood memories, but also the fun of technology.

'Retro-gaming' is far more then merely nostalgic feelings. Creating games within the limitations and constraints of old systems stimulates the creativity (something often lacking in in modern gaming). Be it music, game design or (pixel) art. The final product is therefore more than just a (simple) game. It's an expression of passion; a combination of ingenuity and art that goes beyond a longing for the past.

It's easy for me.  The chance to replay childhood memories.  There's also the possibility of finishing a game I never beat, but also to experience 'new' games that I never had even knowledge of since the European/UK C64 gaming hemisphere was so different from the US.

What do I love about retro gaming? 🕹

I grew up with the Commodore 64 and spent a large part of my childhood and youth on this device. I played and programmed together with my brothers, school friends or on my own.

I have a lot of memories of the old days and still revive them today with old and new games.

I love this hobby! 🕹

Personally I don't call it Retro Gaming. It's just gaming for me as it is the way I first experienced computer games. You can focus on gaming as there aren't any other programs running in the background leading to distraction. The worlds of pixels ignites your fantasy. And of course it's partly also about the nostalgia that naturally comes with it.

I love retro gaming because I can now afford and actually get my hands on games I wasn't able to when I was a kid. I've also found games now that I love that I never knew existed. Now they can all be mine! :-) Also, There aren't very many thriple A games that I like coming out now.

Retro gaming has become my refuge and a portal to a simpler time. I'm in my mid-30s now, and life often feels heavy and it's not always easy escaping the clutches of depression and unfortunate real-life events. Getting lost in nostalgia, and the familiar sounds of the SID chip provide a small sanctuary in which joy prevails.

What i love about Retro Gaming is the fact that i feel (like) a kid again AND that i can learn my (grand)children the pleasure of Retro Gaming and vintage computers so new generations will have the knowledge of this inheritance.

What I love about Retro Gaming is that I now can catch up with all the things that I missed back in the days for various reasons - mostly because the hardware was too expensive for me.

I love to see how modern game design can work on these old systems, often without significant compromises. This shows us that advancements have been made not only due to better hardware, but also more experience in what works (and the freedom from corporate pressure).

On the other hand, it impressive how many of the old games hold up after all these decades, still providing hours of entertainment.

My favorite thing about retro gaming/computing right now is the ability to augment the vintage technology with modern technology. My C64 has a floppy drive emulator (Ultimate 1541+), Wi-Fi modem (WiModem) and a board that plugs into the C64 joystick port and lets me use Bluetooth controllers (UniJoysticle). And none of these things require modifying the computer itself.

I miss the times when games were still original, still new, still unspent. C64, Amiga 500, Atari ST... great systems that offered a lot, where you could learn something, just like that. No bloated, unstable desktops, just pure 'computing'...

I love many things about retro gaming: discovering hidden gems, recovering old games I totally missed, discovering the roots of recent genres of games, and being amazed how after 40 years we still have new games for old platforms, with new ways to program that can squeeze out things that 30 years ago would belong to much powerful platforms.

All this and much more.
