TetrISO (C64)
A downloadable game
Tetris meets isometric puzzle strategy.
Welcome to TetrISO, an action-oriented puzzle game for the Commodore 64 where classic falling-block gameplay takes a whole new dimension.
Build your tower one piece at a time on a 4×4 isometric grid. Pieces fall from above, and it's up to you to rotate and position them perfectly to fill the gaps.
Stuck behind the perspective? Rotate the entire tower clockwise to reveal new angles and find the perfect placement. Mastering both piece rotation and tower rotation is the key to keeping your tower under control.
Complete an entire layer to clear it and score points. Chain multiple clears together to build powerful combos and push your score higher and higher.
Features
- 4×4 isometric tower with a unique spatial challenge
- Rotate falling pieces to find the perfect fit
- Rotate the entire tower clockwise to see and access different sides
- Complete full layers to clear them and score points
- Chain consecutive clears to build bigger combos
- Retro-inspired isometric visuals
- A wonderful SID-adaption of the beautiful classic "L'amour est bleu" / "Love is Blue" by André Popp / Paul Mauriat
The rules may feel familiar, but the isometric perspective changes the way you think about every move. Plan your placements, rotate the tower when you need a better view, and keep the pieces coming.
Can you build the perfect tower?
Controls
Choose between Joystick (Port 2) or Keyboard (WASD). Press "K" in the title screen to switch to keyboard control or press "J" again to return to Joystick (default). Hold down to drop the piece faster and collect additional points this way.
Hint: Moving or Turning a piece resets the drop timer, which means you have enough time to find the best placement for your element.

Nice game!
Thank you and thanks for showing it on your channel.
You really nailed this! Great looking game!
Thank you. Much appreciated.
Thank you very much. It definitely is(o) not easy :).
I had a 3D Tetris style game several years ago on tape called "Welltris". The game was nothing like what you have done, although it was quite good and clever. TetrISO is a very clever idea which makes Tetris more challenging. I have not seen anything like this on the C64, but I may have seen it before but as vector graphics. What you have done here is a stroke of genius. Well done.
Thank you Richard for your very kind words. I always wanted to make something in isometric style and this came out of it. Tetris is a wonderful game concept because you don't need to design any levels - just a random number generator. The basic mechanics speak for themselves. But I am quite happy how my design implementation worked out. For example, it was important to me that you can turn or push a block into position in the very last moment. And being able to turn the whole tower is helping a lot to deal with the (sometimes a bit difficult) isometric perspective. All in all, this was a nice little project. Happy that you like it.
